Filigree is one of the most beautiful and ancient goldsmith techniques: archeological finds in Mesopotamia date back to 3.000 BC.
This course offers not only the knowledge of the century-old procedure, but also gives the way to create your unique pieces for the contemporary world.
PRIVATE COURSE
This course is designed for jewellers or artists in search of new knowledge and techniques. The course duration can range from a minimum of 3 days to a maximum of 5 days, depending on the desired level of complexity and detail.
2-DAY COURSE
Create your own filigree jewelry piece, ready to wear. Starting from manually twisting garnet thread, Valentina will guide you step by step through the Italian filigree technique. Learn to fill delicate open structures while blending tradition with your personal artistic touch.
3-DAY COURSE
Explore the creative potential of weaving metal threads with Valentina’s innovative approach to contemporary filigree. Through hands-on exercises, you’ll learn intuitive techniques to transform your ideas into lightweight, elegant jewelry designs.
4-DAY COURSE
Master the Italian filigree technique and develop a personal project with one-on-one guidance. Whether it’s earrings, a ring, or a small collection, this course offers space to refine your vision and express your creativity through this timeless art.

GROUP COURSE
In this immersive 3-day course, you will learn the entire process of crafting a piece of jewelry using the fascinating Filigree technique.
Starting with the twisting of pure Silver wire, you'll progress to constructing delicate, open flat wire structures. From there, you'll weave with handmade pliers organic shapes that define this ancient method of working with precious metals, before moving on to welding and perfecting every intricate detail.
Additionally, Valentina will lead the students through engaging, creative exercises designed to help each person design a unique, original piece of jewelry.
Places are limited to 7 students, so that everyone has an excellent level of attention and care from the teacher.

Valentina Caprini has learnt the filigree technique from the Campo Ligure artisans, in Genoa. This small village is one of the most active and important places for this special kind of workmanship.
Valentina blends the traditional technique with the contemporary one, fundamental to create unique and original pieces.
She teaches her Contemporary Filigree Course all around the world, in fact, she has been traveling in Europe, Asia and American lately both as a Conceptual Jewelry and Italian Filigree teacher in goldsmith schools and Universities and as a Goldsmith technique and Design advisor for private companies.
